3. High Pressure Circuit
Before the first commissioning or after maintenance on the high pressure circuit, the
tool 94583 (pipe) can be connected between the fuel rail (15, Fig. 1) and the servo oil
rail 4.11.
Note: The fuel rail system will be pressurized so that you can vent the injection
control unit (ICU) and the pipes.
The servo oil service pump supplies the necessary pressure through the servo oil
system for a leak test and quick vent of the high pressure circuit (see 0120−1,
paragraph 3 Vent and leak test of fuel system on the engine).
The fuel pumps (3) deliver fuel under high pressure into the fuel rail (15) via the high
pressure pipes (9), collector block (13) and the rising pipes (10). They supply as
much fuel as necessary to maintain the required pressure (load-dependent) in the fuel
rail (see 5556−1 Fuel Pump).
The injection control units (16) control the fuel injection volume to each injection
valve (18).
The non-return valves (11) and (12) prevent a pressure decrease in the fuel rail if
there is damage that lets fuel come out as a spray from the HP fuel pipe (9). For more
data, see paragraph 4, Fuel leakage system.
The leakage inspection points (19) on the flanges of the HP fuel pipes (10) and (17)
help to find possible leakages (see paragraph 4).
