To connect the PoE:
1. Locate the Internet port on the cable hub, and connect it to the port on the in-line
power switch/hub with the Ethernet cable.
Note
Remove power to power off the endpoint if long time no use.
Once you have power on the endpoint, it will begin its initialization process.
During the initialization process, the following events take place:
Loading the ROM file
The ROM file sits in the flash memory of the endpoint. Endpoints come from the factory
with a ROM file preloaded. During initialization, endpoints run a bootstrap loader that
loads and executes the ROM file.
Configuring the VLAN
If the endpoint is connected to a switch, the switch will notify the endpoint about the
VLAN information defined on the switch.
Querying the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) Server
The endpoint is capable of querying a DHCP server. DHCP is enabled on the endpoint
by default. The following network settings can be obtained from the DHCP server during
initialization:
IP Address
Subnet Mask
If in-line power is provided, you don‘t need to connect the cable hub to the power
adapter. Make sure the switch/hub is PoE-compliant.
