Question 2 - Leading Zeros
The encoder expects a single-digit response to this question (0 to 4). The Digitone format
requires a 5-digit entry to describe a paging address. This entry is used to preset, or “strap” a
number of leading zeros to the page address entered in order to shorten the entry made by the
operator.
For example, a system uses the following four Digitone pager codes: 0019, 0020, 0021, and
0022. If this question was answered with “3”, the operator would only need to enter “19” in
order to page “00019”.
Question 3 - Number of Repeats
The encoder expects a single-digit response to this question (3 to 9). The Digitone format
requires that pages be sent multiple times in order to insure reception of the page. This entry
sets the number of repetitions for Digitone pages made under this leading digit. A typical
number for this parameter is four repetitions.
Saving the Changes
Once the single-digit response for “Question 3” has been entered, the Model 25 will
immediately begin to load all changes made in this section to memory to be used until new
changes are made. During the time that the Model 25 is loading this information to memory,
the display will appear as shown here.
CAUTION
Do not remove power or press the RESET button while the Model 25 is loading the
memory, otherwise incorrect information could be loaded requiring reprogramming.
Once the Model 25 completes the loading procedure, it will return to the first question in the
two-tone programming section, “Question “bo”” on page 69. You may select another leading
digit to format or press
RESET to exit the programming mode back to the idle state.
