Golay Sequential
The Zetron Model 25 Programmable Encoder supports signaling of Golay pagers according
to Motorola function plan A. The available types of signaling are: tone, voice, and numeric
data. Alphanumeric data is not supported by the Model 25.
Question 1 - Channel Select Relays
This question works the same way for most paging formats. Please see “Question 1 - Channel
Select Relays” on page 72 for a description.
Question 2 - Leading Zeros
The encoder expects a single-digit response to this question (0 to 5). The Golay format
requires a 6-digit entry to describe a paging address. This entry is used to preset, or “strap” a
number of leading zeros to the page address entered in order to shorten the entry made by the
operator.
For example, a system uses the following entry format for manually entering a Golay pager
code:
b xxxxxx f where: b = leading digit for paging format
x = digits in pager code
f = function code for encoder/Golay pager
If this question has been answered with “4”, then the operator only needs to enter the leading
digit, two pager code digits, and a single function code digit.
Question 3 - Talk Time
The encoder is expecting a 2-digit response to this prompt (00 to 59). The value entered here
is the time (in seconds) allowed for a voice massage to be transmitted after a Golay page.
This value is only used when the function code entered with the page calls for a voice
message. When the talk time is used up the encoder will either turn off the microphone or
extend the talk time, depending on how the encoder was installed and operator actions.
