7.4 MAC Authentication
This screen allow s you to configure the ZyXEL Device t o give exclusive access to specific devices
( Allow ) or exclude specific devices from accessing the ZyXEL Device ( D eny) . Every Ethernet
device has a unique MAC (Media Access Control) address. The MAC address is assigned at the
factory and consist s of six pairs of hexadecim al charact ers, for exam ple, 00: A0: C5: 00: 00: 02. You
need t o know t he MAC addresses of the devices to configure this screen.
Passphrase
Ty p e
I f you set securit y for the wireless LAN and have t he Device generate a password, t he
setting in this field det erm ines how the Device generat es t he password.
Select None to set the Dev ice’s passw ord generat ion to not be based on a passphrase.
Select Fix e d t o use a 16 charact er passphrase for generating a password.
Select Va r iable t o use a 16 t o 63 charact er passphrase for generating a passwor d.
Passphrase Key For a fixed type passphrase ent er 16 alphanum eric characters (0- 9, A-Z, with no spaces) . I t
m ust cont ain bot h letters and num bers and is case- sensit ive.
For a var iable t ype passphrase ent er 16 to 63 alphanumeric character s ( 0-9, A-Z, with no
spaces) . I t m ust contain both let ters and num bers and is case- sensit ive.

Net work Nam e
( SSI D)
The SSI D ( Service Set I Dent it y) ident ifies t he service set w it h which a wireless device is
associated. Wireless devices associating t o the access point ( AP) m ust have t he sam e SSI D.
Ent er a descriptive nam e ( up to 32 English keyboard character s) for the wireless LAN.
Hide SSID Select this check box t o hide t he SSI D in the outgoing beacon fram e so a station cannot
obtain t he SSI D t hrough scanning using a sit e survey tool.
Client I solation Select this t o keep t he wir eless clients in t his SSI D from com m unicat ing wit h each other.
MBSSID/ LAN
I solation
Select this t o keep t he wireless client s in this SSI D from com m unicating with clients in other
SSI Ds or LAN devices.
Enhanced
Multicast
For w arding
Select this check box to allow t he Device t o convert wireless m ult icast t raffic int o wireless
unicast traffic.
Securit y Level
Security Mode Select Ba sic ( W EP) or M ore Secure ( W PA( 2 ) - PSK, W PA( 2 ) ) t o add security on this
wireless network. The wireless clients which want to associat e t o t his network m ust have
sam e wireless securit y set t ings as t he Device. Aft er you select t o use a secur it y, additional
opt ions appears in this screen.
Or you can select N o Secu r it y t o allow any client to associat e t his network without any data
encrypt ion or aut hent ication.

Apply Click Apply to save your changes.
