10.4.1 Adding a QoS Queue
Click Add new Que ue or t he edit icon in the Qu eue Se t up screen t o configure a queue.

The following t able describes t he labels in t his screen.
10.5 The Class Setup Screen
Use t his screen to add, edit or delete QoS classifiers. A classifier groups traffic int o data flows
according to specific crit eria such as the source address, dest ination address, source port num ber,
destination port num ber or incoming interface. For exam ple, you can configure a classifier t o select
traffic from the sam e prot ocol port (such as Telnet) t o form a flow.

LABEL DESCRIPTION
Act ive Select t o enable or disable this queue.
Nam e Ent er the descript ive name of this queue.
I nt erface Select t he inter face to which this queue is applied.
This field is read-only if you are editing the queue.
Priority Select t he priority level (fr om 1 t o 7) of this queue.
The sm aller the num ber, t he higher the priorit y level. Traffic assigned t o higher priority
queues gets through faster w hile traffic in lower priority queues is dropped if t he network is
congest ed.
Weigh t Select t he weight (from 1 to 8) of this queue.
I f two queues have t he sam e priority level, t he Dev ice divides the bandwidt h across t he
queues according to t heir w eight s. Queues with larger w eights get m ore bandw idt h than
queues wit h sm aller w eight s.
Buffer
Managem ent
This field displays Drop Ta il ( DT) . D r op Tail ( DT) is a sim ple queue m anagem ent
algorit hm that allows the Device buffer to accept as m any packets as it can unt il it is full.
Once the buffer is full, new packet s t hat arrive are dropped until t here is space in t he buffer
again ( packets are t ransm itt ed out of it) .
Rat e Lim it Specify t he m axim um t ransm ission rat e (in Kbps) allowed for t raffic on this queue.
OK Click OK t o save your changes.
Cancel Click Cance l to exit t his screen without saving.
