8.3 The Static DHCP Screen
This table allows you to assign I P addresses on t he LAN to specific individual com put ers based on
their MAC Addresses.
Every Ethernet device has a unique MAC (Media Access Control) address. The MAC address is
assigned at the factor y and consist s of six pairs of hexadecim al characters, for example,
00: A0: C5: 00: 00: 02.

Select how you want t o obt ain an I Pv6 address:
• stat e le ss + D N S send by RADVD: The Device uses I Pv6 st at eless aut oconfigurat ion.
RADVD (Rout er Advert isem ent Daem on) is enabled t o have the Device send I Pv6 prefix
inform ation in router advertisem ent s periodically and in response t o router solicitations.
DHCPv6 server is disabled. ( See
page 140 for m ore inform ation on RADVD.)

The DNS is provided by a DHCPv6 server.
• stat e ful + D H CPv6 serve r : The Device uses I Pv6 st ateful autoconfigurat ion. The
DHCPv6 ser ver is enabled to have t he Device act as a DHCPv6 server and pass I Pv6
addresses, DNS server and dom ain nam e inform at ion t o DHCPv6 clients.
• stateful + DHCPv6 rela y: The Dev ice uses I Pv6 st ateful autoconfigurat ion. DH CPv6
Rela y is enabled t o have t he Device relay client DHCPv6 requests.

Select None if you do not want to configure I Pv6 DNS servers.
