CHAPTER 13
Interface Group
13.1 Overview
By default , all LAN and WAN int erfaces on the Device are in t he sam e group and can com m unicate
wit h each ot her. Create int erface groups t o have the Device assign t he I P addresses in different
dom ains t o different groups. Each group acts as an independent net work on t he Device. This lets
devices connect ed to an int erface group’s LAN interfaces com m unicate through the interface
groups WAN or LAN int erfaces but not other WAN or LAN int erfaces.
13.1.1 What You Can Do in this Chapter
The I nt e rfa ce Group screens let you create m ultiple networks on t he Device (
Section 13.2 on
page 205) .
13.2 The Interface Group Screen
You can m anually add a LAN int erface to a new group. Alt ernat ively, you can have the Device
aut om at ically add the incom ing traffic and t he LAN int erface on which t raffic is received to an
interface group when its DHCP Vendor I D option inform ation m atches one listed for the int erface
group.
Use t he LAN screen to configure the privat e I P addresses t he DHCP server on t he Device assigns t o
the client s in t he default and/ or user- defined groups. I f you set the Device t o assign I P addresses
based on the client ’s DHCP Vendor I D opt ion inform ation, you m ust enable DHCP server and
configure LAN TCP/ I P sett ings for bot h t he default and user-defined groups. See
