8.7 The Additional Subnet Screen
Use t he Addit iona l Subnet screen to configure I P alias and public st at ic I P.
I P alias allows you t o part it ion a physical net work int o different logical networks over t he sam e
Et hernet interface. The Device supports m ultiple logical LAN int erfaces via it s physical Et hernet
interface wit h t he Device itself as the gateway for t he LAN network. When you use I P alias, you can
also configure firewall rules t o control access to the LAN's logical network (subnet ) .
I f your I SP provides the Public LAN service, the Device m ay use an LAN I P address that can be
accessed from the WAN.
Click Ne t w or k Set t ing > H om e Ne t w ork in g > Addit ional Subnet to display t he screen shown
next .

LABEL DESCRIPTION
I P Alias Set up
Group Nam e Select t he interface gr oup nam e for which you want t o configur e t he I P alias set t ings. See
Chapt er 13 on page 205 for how to create a new interface gr oup.
Active Select t he checkbox t o configure a LAN networ k for the Device.
I P Address Ent er t he I P address of your Device in dotted decim al notation.
I P Subnet Mask Your Device will autom at ically calculat e t he subnet m ask based on the I P address t hat you
assign. Unless you are im plem ent ing subnetting, use the subnet m ask com puted by t he
Dev ice.
Public LAN
Active Select the checkbox to enable t he Public LAN feature. Your I SP m ust support Public LAN and
St at ic I P.
I P Address Ent er t he public I P address provided by your I SP.
I P Subnet Mask Enter the public I P subnet m ask prov ided by your I SP.
