13. CLEANING THE PROJECTOR
13.1 Projector lenses
General guidelines for cleaning projector lenses
Blow off dust with clean compressed air (or pressurized air cans) .
Use lens cleaner and a c lean lens cleaning cloth to remove t he dust and co ntamination.
Wipe in broad strokes, in one direction only.
Warning: Do not wipe bac k and forwards across the lens surface as this tends to grind dirt into the coating.
Use a dry clean lens cleaning cloth to remov e left liquid or stripes. Polish with small circles.
If there are still ngerprints on the surface, repeat with lens cleaner and a clean lens cleaning cloth, then polish again with a dry cloth.
If smears occu r when cleaning len ses, replace the cloth. Smears are the rstindicationofadirtycloth.
13.2 Projector cabinet
WARNING: Always disconnect the projector from the mains power net before atte mp ting to clean the projec-
tor cabinet.
General guidelines for cleaning the projector cabinet (exterior only)
Clean the housing of the pr ojector with a damp cloth. Stubborn stains may be removed with a cloth lightly dampened with a mild
detergent solution.
13.3 Filters
General info regarding Air intake a nd lters.
The product is shipped default witho ut any lters and by avoiding lters, the ventilation system operates for longer periods between
maintenance, since n o clogging of lters means more air is allowed through the system, resulting in lower operating temperatures
over time. The air intake are just protected by a m esh. T his m esh has to be vacuum cleaned oc casionally when needed. No specic
interval for this operation, but to be p erformed when needed.
For more dem anding surrounds both smok e an d dust lters can be applied externally to the sy stem to avoid internal fouling.
General guidelines for cleaning projector lters (external)
Remove the lter from the projector then us e a vacuum to remove ex cess dust from the lter. Do not wet or soak the lter.
Cleaning of the projector lter should be done in a separate room to avoid dust contamination.
