Contingency plan for problems with updating PLC program
In case of problems with software updates, e.g. Issues with enabling communication between PLC and HMI
or in case the PLC shows “error” with red LEDs, then it is possible to reset the system by re-installing
firmware and new software.
1. Update the firmware on the PLC. This will reset the IP addresses to: ETH 1: IP 192.168.1.100,
SubNet: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 192.168.1.1
See section 8.1.1 on how to install firmware.
2. Update the program on the PLC with a program version where the PLC node name will be forced to
a certain value, e.g. “MAIN_CONTROLLER1”. Use a program version where PLC node name is set
(e.g. Folder “v1.1.0.0_MAIN_CONTROLLER1” or alike). See section 8.1.2 on how to install new
program. Make sure to use unique PLC node names for each PLC, when having multiple ACP’s on
the same network.
After program update, the IP addresses can be reconfigured, see section 8.1.4.
8.2 ACP LINK panel HMI
The HMI (Schneider Electric type HMI3GU with HMIDT651 touch screen) can be
updated using a USB-stick that can be inserted in the slot on the back of the HMI.
Firmware update is not needed on a new screen, only in case when recovery is
needed. Firmware update will remove all data and settings. Backup configuration and
settings before firmware update.
Update Schneider firmware, ACP LINK panel HMI
The Schneider HMI comes with firmware installed. The firmware can be recovered if problems related to the
operating system of the HMI occur. For this purpose a backup and recovery tool is available from Schneider
to create a new image file for the system SD-card. To reach the system SD-card: turn off the power to the
screen, remove the back panel from the touch screen (unlock with the green button on the top). The slot for
the system SD-card is located behind a cover on the side. Contact BITZER if the recovery tool is needed.
Update software, ACP LINK panel HMI
1. If ACP is in operation, then stop operation and secure against unintended start of motors/
compressors.
2. Make sure that the HMI has the SD-card mounted in the relevant slot for the secondary SD-card on
the back of the HMI, before updating the software. There are two SD-cards fitted for normal
operation, one called system card, another called SD CARD. If you have not manipulated either, you
can omit this step.
3. Obtain the correct program files, that match the one in the PLC. The programs in the PLC and the
HMI must have the same software version to function properly.
4. Prepare USB stick: Format the USB stick (FAT32). Then transfer the files obtained from BITZER to
the stick.
