INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Mechanical Dock Leveler
1. Prior to installation of Dock Leveler, remove all debris from pit and clean pit
thoroughly.
2. Measure the overall height of the rear corners of the Dock Leveler
(19” [485mm] typical).
Measure the overall depth of the pit at the rear corners of the pit
(19-1/2” [500mm] typical), as follows:
a) Measure and record the height from the underside of the lower rear frame to the
upper surface of the upper rear frame, both rear corners of the Dock Leveler.
b) Measure and record the depth of the pit at both rear corners of the pit where the
rear bottom corners of the Dock Leveler frame will be positioned.
c) Locate and place suitable shims (not supplied) on the floor of the pit at both rear
corners as required, to produce a pit depth to match the corresponding rear
corner frame heights, see Group 14, Section 05, Page 1.
3. Repeat the procedures described in paragraphs 2a, b & c at both front corners of the
Dock Leveler and both front corners of the pit.
Note: The overall height of the Dock Leveler front corners are
19-1/2” [500mm] typical).
The overall height of the front corners of the pit are 20” [515mm] typical).
DO NOT work beneath a raised object.
Follow all hoisting safety requirements.
4. Using slings that are rated for a minimum capacity of 2,000 lbs. (1,000 kg) and
extreme caution, sling the dock leveler into place squarely above pit and lower
gently onto pre-located shims. Locate and square the dock leveler to best suit the
pit and the dock face. Space between sides of deck and sides of pit should be equal,
see Group 14, Section 05, Page 1.
