Issue Date: 10/01/01, Rev, 0 (Part #038-550E)
LIP CROWN MODIFICATION – cont’d
Decreasing Lip Crown – cont’d
To determine the amount of material
that must be removed, select the
highest vehicle that will be encountered
and park it in place against the bumpers
of the dock.
The vehicle must have No Load.
Operate the dock leveler to place the lip
onto the truck.
Place sufficient weight onto the deck to
force the lip fully against the headboard
and hold it in that position.
Observe the space between the
underside of the lip and the rearmost
edge of the truck bed, Figure 84. This
space will be reduced to approximately
1/8" when maximum crown decrease is
accomplished, Figure 85.
Observing the space indicated and the
lip to headboard contact area, estimate
the amount of material that must be
removed from the lip to accomplish the
desired crown decrease, as shown in
Figure 85. Do Not Over-Grind.
Cycle the dock leveler to a position
where the lip is hanging pendant and is
at a height that is comfortable for
grinding, Figure 86.
