Annex J (Informative)
New technology
These rules cover only the types of sprinkler specified in Table 26. During the years preceding the
preparation of these rules new technologies were being developed for special applications, including in
particular the following:
- early suppression fast response sprinklers (ESFR) see annex L;
- large drop sprinklers;
- residential sprinklers;
- special in-rack sprinklers.
These sprinklers should only be used in accordance with the results of large scale fire test data and where
the design criteria are fully acceptable to the authorities involved.
It is intended that they will be included in future editions of these rules.
