Note: It is strongly recommended that you use the power supply adapter and the power cord supplied with
the vEdge 1000 router.
Caution: If you are connecting AC power to the router, it is recommended that the building have an external
surge protective device installed.
Step 3: Connect the Router to a Management Console
You can configure and manage a vEdge 1000 router using a management console. To connect the router to
a management console, use the console port which accepts a cable with an RJ-45 connector. See Console Port
.
To connect the vEdge 1000 router to a management console:
1. Connect one end of the console cable into the console port, labeled CONSOLE, on the vEdge router (see
Figure 3).
2. Connect the other end of the console cable into the console server or to a management console.
