2.1.6 Transport of children, baggage,
bicycle trailers
Risk of Personal Injury and Material
Damage!
Transporting children and luggage is as-
sociated with risks. Many bicycle frames
are not suitable for mounting luggage
racks and child seats.
Only transport your luggage in/on
suitable carrying systems.
These are bicycle backpacks or luggage
carriers approved by the manufacturer.
Consult your specialist dealer.

gage rack (examples):
- City and urban bikes
- Trekking and touring bikes
If you are unsure whether your bike is ap-
proved for the use of a luggage rack, please
consult your specialist dealer.
Child seats may only be tted to suitable
bicycle racks. Please consult your specialist
dealer on this matter.
The maximum load of the luggage rack depends
on the model and is usually max. 25 kg.
WARNING:
Some bicycle racks have only been appro-
ved for lower loads.
Please refer to the specications provided
by the manufacturer of the bicycle rack.
Please note that you will not reach the permis-
sible total weight even with children and/or
luggage (chapter 3.2).
Ensure a safe loading. No item of the lug-
gagemay come in touch with the moving
bicycle parts (road wheel, drive, chain,
brakes) or may interfere with the functions
or the handling of your bicycle.
Do not exceed the permissable total weight,
see chapter 3.2.
Stand on a calibrated scale in your full cyc-
ling gear together with your bike.
Determine the permissible total weight by
lifting your bike with the entire load (not
including children!),

personal scale and add up the weights
determined.

braking distance.

The tting and use of bicycle trailers on
our bicycles is not allowed, provided they
have not been specically approved for
the respective bicycle model.
Have all tting of parts, modications, ser-
vicing and any other work carried out solely
by your specialist workshop.
Please note that the person who modies
the bicycle is also liable for them.
