Precautions before updating
For GENSET controller:
• The breaker must be open.
• The engine must be stopped.
• Switchboard control must be activated.
For SHAFT generator, SHORE connection and BUS TIE breaker controllers:
• The breaker must be open.
• Switchboard control must be activated.
Installing a controller firmware package
1. In PICUS, select Tools > Advanced > Firmware.
2. Make sure you are on the Controller page.
• This is shown by default.
3. Highlight and select the controller from the list shown.
4. Use Select at the right to locate the ml300_PPU_app_version.packet file.
• Target and packet versions are compared and shown on the information.
• A status for the .packet file is shown on the page.

If the status is Software current, no update needs to be applied.
5. Select Check ready to check the status of the controller.
• The status of the controller is shown both in the description at the bottom and in the Ready column.
◦ (Green) shows the controller is ready.
◦ (Red) shows the controller is not ready.
• If the status is Not ready; Controller is not ready for software update, check the controller is in the correct state for
updating.
• If the status is Ready then you can update the firmware.
6. Select Update to start the update of firmware on the controller.
• During the update the progress status is shown at the bottom left, and also by a progress bar.
• Once the update is complete the controller automatically restarts.
