8.1 Update the documentation
8.1.1 Backing up the controller information
You can back up or restore selected features from or to the controller. You can also create a complete local copy (Offline
project) of the controller settings. The information can be restored to the controller directly or broadcast to other controllers in
the same network.
Saving a backup of the controller information is useful to:
• Reuse the same information for a similar system.
• Restore the controller settings, for example, if someone changes these to incorrect values.
• Replace a controller.
You can also print a copy of the settings for a controller, and store it in a safe place.
CAUTION
It is a requirement of some class societies to keep a printed copy of the controller settings.
Back up the controller settings
To back up controller information:
1. Launch PICUS from your computer.
2. Log on and connect to the controller that you want to back up.
3. Select Tools
> Backups .
4. Select Back up page if not already shown.
• The Back up page is shown by default.
5. Use Select folder to select a backup folder location.
6. Select Back up at the bottom of the page.
• PICUS creates a backup file (also known as Local project) in the folder location.
The controller information is now backed up in the folder location you have chosen.

Print controller information
To print the controller information, for each controller:
1. Launch PICUS from your computer.
2. Log on and connect to the controller that you want to print.
