5.8 Use of combined type 1+2 DC surge
protection devices
The inverter is supplied with pre-installed type 2 AC and DC
surge protection devices. The DC surge protection devices can
be replaced by separately available type 1+2 combined DC surge
protection devices.
Ideally, install the combined DC surge protection devices before
installing the inverter. The easiest way to do this is with the
inverter horizontal. However, you can also perform the replace-
ment on a suspended inverter.
Install the combined surge protection devices before connecting
the inverter to the grid and solar modules.
If the inverter is already in operation, the replacement is consid-
erably more complicated for safety reasons.
