Configuration System Prerequisites
Note: In order for you to be able to
use all the new OpenCom 100 func-
tions, we recommend that you down-
load the latest software from the
website http://www.detewe.de.
For the initial configuration you can
connect the PC to the OpenCom 100
via either the COM or the Ethernet
port, using the network protocol
TCP/ IP to set up the connection. You
can then open the Web console of
the OpenCom 100 and start the Con-
figurator from there. For informa-
tion on connecting a PC to the Open-
Com 100, please refer to the section
Connectible Devices starting on
page 20.
Note: This chapter describes the
initial configuration of the OpenCom
100. For day-to-day operation you
can integrate the OpenCom 100 in a
LAN and start the Configurator from
any PC. For information on how to do
this, please refer to the Configuration
Examples starting on page 40.
System Prerequisites
For the initial configuration you re-
quire a normal TCP/IP-capable PC
with a Web browser. The PC should
meet the following minimum re-
quirements:
■ IBM compatible 200 MHz PC
■ 32 MB RAM and 50 MB free hard
disk space
■ Microsoft Windows 95/98, Mi-
crosoft Windows 2000, or Micro-
soft Windows NT 4.0 operating
system
■ Microsoft Internet Explorer ver-
sion 4.0 or higher, or Netscape
Communicator version 4.5 or
higher
Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer is
already installed in current versions
of the Microsoft Windows operating
system. If required, a Web browser
can be installed from the Setup CD
delivered with the OpenCom 100.
In addition, the selected type of con-
nection requires further system
components which you may have to
install on your PC. The driver soft-
ware is normally supplied with the
hardware, and the appropriate ver-
sion should be available for your
operating system. You will find the
system software on the Installation
CD of your operating system.
