Configuration Configuring the OpenCom 100
For the OpenCom 100 to configure
the TCP/IP settings of a Linux system
via DHCP, you must install the “dhcli-
ent” package and activate configura-
tion via DHCP in the Linux network
configuration. In order to be able to
access the OpenCom 100 Configura-
tor, you should also install the Net-
scape Communicator 4.5 (or higher).
MacOS
TCP/IP is already integrated in the
new MacOS starting with version
7.6. For the OpenCom 100 to config-
ure the TCP/IP settings of a MacOS
system via DHCP, you must set the
configuration method to “DHCP
Server” in the menu “Control Panels
TCP/IP.“ In order to be able to access
the OpenCom 100 Configurator, you
should also install Netscape Commu-
nicator 4.5 (or higher), or Microsoft
Internet Explorer 4.5 (or higher).

Preparing the
Configuration
Before starting with the configura-
tion, you should make sure you have
the following documents at hand:
■ An overview of the ports
■ A list of the terminals to be
connected
■ A list of the IPEIs, if you wish to
check in DECT terminals in the
verified procedure
■ A list of the authentication
codes, if you are operating more
than one RFP 21 DECT base
station on the OpenCom 100
■ A list of the users to be set up
(staff entitled to use the services
of the OpenCom 100) with their
names, departments, and the in-
ternal call numbers you want to
allocate to them.
■ For Internet access: the Internet
Service Provider access data
Data not available for the initial con-
figuration can be updated or cor-
rected at a later date.
