Configuration Configuration with Windows
stalling the driver and system soft-
ware.
Configuring the
Connection via the Serial
Port (V.24)
The required components are nor-
mally already pre-installed together
with the operating system. In this
case, you can easily configure the
connection to the OpenCom 100 by
using the program “occonfig”:
Note: Under Windows NT or
Windows 2000 you must log in
as Administrator.
1. Insert the Setup CD delivered
along with the OpenCom 100
and select the item “Run” from
the Start menu.
The CD starts automatically (if
your PC has been configured ac-
cordingly). You must then select
“occonfig” in the Start mask and
skip step 2.
2. Using the “Browse” button, lo-
cate the program “occonfig” on
the Setup CD and confirm with
the “Open” and “OK” buttons.
3. Click on the “OK” button to in-
stall the modem driver.
4. In the dialogue that follows,
select a serial port and confirm
with the “OK” button.
After restarting your computer, you
will find an icon for the connection
to the OpenCom 100 on your desk-
top.
Note: If this procedure cannot be
completed properly, please refer to
the chapter Notes on Configuring the
Serial Port (V.24) on page 28.
Establishing a Remote Data
Transfer Connection
1. Connect the serial port of the PC
to the OpenCom 100 COM port.
In order to do this, you use the
V.24 serial connector cable sup-
plied with the OpenCom 100 (for
the OpenCom 105 you use the
adapter cable for connecting RJ-
232 to RJ-45).
2. Double-click on the OpenCom
desktop icon generated with the
“occonfig” program.
3. In the dialogue which follows,
enter the user name and pass-
word valid for the OpenCom 100
user account being used.
For the initial configuration, log
in under the user name “Admin-
istrator” without a password.
Clear the input field “Domain”
and confirm with “OK.”
When the connection is established,
all necessary IP address parameters
will be transmitted by the OpenCom
100 via PPP, and automatically set
for the direct PC link.
