Configuration with Windows Configuration
Connection via the V.24 port (COM
port):
Hardware: one free serial port
(RS-232, V.24) and a serial cable
(9-pole Sub-D). For the configu-
ration of the OpenCom 105, use
the adapter cable supplied for
connecting RJ-232 to RJ-45.
System software: serial port
driver and TCP/IP software
Driver software: remote data
transfer adapter software for in-
stallation on the service PC is in-
cluded on the CD.
Connection via network card:
Hardware: network card with
10BaseT port and RJ-45 network
cable (crossover twisted pairs or
connection via a a hub)
Driver software: network card
driver
System software: TCP/IP soft-
ware.
Configuration with Windows
Before beginning the initial configu-
ration, install the necessary hard-
ware and the driver software on the
PC. Follow the hardware installation
instructions supplied with the hard-
ware. In many cases, the TCP/IP sys-
tem software is installed together
with the driver software for the
hardware. When you have installed
the driver software, proceed as
follows:
1. Open Network Settings in the
Control Panel of your PC. In or-
der to do this, you select the
item “Settings > Control Panel”
from the Start menu and dou-
ble-click on the “Network” icon
(under Microsoft Windows NT,
please select the “Protocols”
tab).
2. Check the list of installed com-
ponents to see whether TCP/IP is
present. If necessary, install TCP/
IP by clicking on the “Add” but-
ton.
3. Select TCP/IP from the “Proto-
col/Microsoft” folder and con-
firm with “OK.”
4. Then follow the installation in-
structions displayed.
