NOISE GATE
Noise gates can do much more than the name implies. While it works nicely for getting rid of unwanted noise, the
2112 noise gates also create swelling effects.
The 2112 expands the threshold parameter into two separate parameters: Open Threshold and Close Threshold. By
setting the close threshold to a lower level than the open threshold, signals can take longer to decay before the Gate
begins to close. This makes the 2112 noise gate much more musical and natural in its behavior.
WHEN DO I USE A NOISE GATE? The most obvious application is getting rid of noise. As long as a signal is
louder than the noise, the noise isn't usually heard. But the moment the signal gets softer or stops completely,
room noise, amplifier noise, air conditioner noise, etc. suddenly become very audible. The Noise Gate can get rid
of this problem so that when there's no signal, the noise is also eliminated.
By selecting a slower attack time and higher threshold levels, the noise gate causes signals to swell into audibility.
When using a guitar for example, it creates the swelling sound usually associated with volume pedal or a pinky fin-
ger on the guitar's volume knob. The 2112 can take care of this for you so that you hands (or feet) are free to do
more important things.
N
OISE GAT E
PARAMETERS
Level Controls the signal input level fed to the Module. Ranges from Off to 100%.
ThshO Sets the level at which the gate begins to open at the rate set by ATTACK. Both THSHO
and THSHC are independent controls. This gives you the option to do nifty stuff like setting
THSHO higher than THSHC, which could be used to let guitar notes sustain longer while
still retaining the noise-gating characteristics of the gate when closed.
ThshC Sets the level at which the gate begins to close at the rate set by RELEASE. Both THSHO
and THSHC are independent controls.THSHC cannot be set higher than THSHO.
Attn Adjusts how far the signal level is attenuated when the gate is closed. The higher you set
ATTN, the lower the noise floor of the source when the gate is closed. Ranges from 0 to
100%.
Delay Sets the amount of delay before the Gate engages. Ranges from 0.1 to 10.0 milliseconds.
Attack Controls how quickly the gate or compressor opens after the signal level reaches THSH.
Ranges from 0 to 2 second.
Hold Determines how long the gate remains open after the signal level falls below THSHC. Long
HOLD settings can be used to prevent the gate from “stuttering”, or opening and closing
rapidly, during soft passages when average signal levels are just above or below the THSHC
setting. Ranges from 0 to 500 milliseconds.
Release Determines how quickly the gate closes after the signal level falls below THSHC.When used
in conjunction with long HOLD settings, this control can be used to further prevent stutter-
ing, or to make the closing of the gate less obtrusive. Ranges from 0 to 2 seconds.
M
ULTI EFFECTS MODULES
The 2112, Multi Effect Modules allow the User to combine either Delay and Chorus or Delay and Flange within one
Effect module block. This is ideal for situations where the User needs to add another effect to the Effect Configuration,
but is running low on signal processing resources.Within the module, there is a unique parameter that allows you
route the signal several different ways between the two effects.
M
ULTI-EFFECT MODULE PARAMETERS
FX: Lvl Controls the signal input level fed to the Module. Ranges from Off to 100%.
Dry: Lvl Controls the level of the dry (uneffected) signal. Ranges from Off to 100%.
Balance Controls the positioning of the dry signal in the stereo soundfield. Ranges from -99 (all left)
