5.1 HiD 2025/2026
Functional description
Provides a fully floating supply to power a two wire transmitter in a Hazardous Area, repeating the current to drive
a Safe Area load. Bi-directional communication is provided for smart transmitters which use current modulation to
transmit data and voltage modulation to receive data.
Outputs are isolated from the inputs and are referenced to the power supply common.
Model 2025 Model 2026
Application Guidelines
The specified operating range is 4-20 mA, but the unit can operate near 0 mA with reduced accuracy. Please
contact Elcon for more details. At the field side, the equivalent circuit (before current limitation) is around 21 V /
300
An Hand Held Configurator (HHC) for smart transmitters configuration can be connected either at the SA and at
HA side (in this case you need an IS certified HHC). When in SA, a minimum load of 250 must be present on
the current loop and the HHC must be connected across this load. When the DCS/PLC has a low current sense
resistor, you need to insert an external series resistor to get proper communication.
The unit can be used with all Elcon standard termination board
