6.4 Optimizing the analyzer
6.4.1 Adjusting the measuring range
Depending on the configuration, the analyzer can measure from just a few mg/l up to several
10 000 mg/l. The analyzer can be optimized by changing components and altering the device
settings.
The measuring range is altered by changing a component:
• By changing the infrared detector (Endress+Hauser Service)
• By fitting a predilution system (Endress+Hauser Service)
In terms of device settings, the feed rate of dosing pump P2 is optimized.
Please note that optimizing the sensitivity or the salt load compatibility often demands conflicting
settings on the analyzer. Select the settings the offer the best compromise for your measuring task.
6.4.2 Influence on dosing pump P2 on the measuring signal
The dosing range of adjustment is affected by:
• The dosing volume VOL.BATCH (100 to 1200 μl - factory setting: 300 μl)
You can change the pump setting in the programming mode: SETTING - RANGE DATA.
Increasing the pump delivery rate increases the measuring signal. A 50% increase in the feed rate is
equivalent to an increase in the signal of approx. 50%.
The dosing volume of 400 μl/batch results in a sensitivity of 2 ppm CO
2
per mg/l TOC (dosing
volume 100 to 1200 μl/batch is equivalent to 0.5 to 6 ppm CO
2
per mg/l TOC).
Please note that if the sample flow is increased, the salt load also increases to the same extent.
The maximum measuring range indicated on the nameplate is the range at a dosing volume of
100 μl/batch and 1200 μl/batch.
