4. Quit Terminal.
Adding the Printer Using Printer configuration
Note:
Before proceeding with the installation, be sure to exit all running applications.
Root privileges are required in order to add the printer.
1. Connect the printer to a computer or the network.
With a USB connection, the Specify Printer Driver dialog box appears. Click Cancel to close
the dialog box.
2. Insert the Software Disc in the CD/DVD drive of your computer.
3. From the System menu, select Administration, then Printing.
4. Click New Printer.
5. Enter the printer name, description, and location, and then click Forward.
The printers that can be used are automatically searched for and listed in the left pane of the dialog
box.
6. From the left pane of the dialog box, select the port for the printer to be installed.
If the desired printer is not listed, select a device port from the Devices list. In the right pane of
the dialog box, type in the host name or IP address for the printer.

TCP/IP: AppSocket/HP jetDirect, Internet Printing Protocol (ipp) or LPD/LPR Host or
Printer
Host name of Internet Printing Protocol (ipp): <IP address>/ipp
7. Click Forward.
8. Select Provide PPD file.
9. Click the folder icon.
