2.3.4. Use of stairs and lifts
For use in elevators, the same instructions apply as for use in public transport. To avoid dangers
when using stairs, please observe the following instructions:
The wheelchair must never be pushed or lifted up or down stairs.
The wheelchair must be folded before using stairs. The assistance of a second person is strongly
recommended when climbing stairs.
2.3.5. Dangers when driving on sloping terrain
There is an increased risk of tipping over when using the wheelchair on steep slopes or ramps.
To avoid serious injury, please observe the following instructions:
Do not drive on and over ramps that are not equipped with adequate
lateral edge protection.
Make sure that the surface of the ramp is dry and clean.
Make sure the ramp is wider than the wheelchair.
Only travel straight and parallel to the course of the ramp.
Take extra care whendriving up and downhill.
Avoid driving on sloping terrain if the surface consists of
snow, ice, gravel, clay, sand, wet leaves, etc., or is uneven.
2.3.6. Dangers when driving on unpaved surfaces
When driving at low speed or with heavily discharged batteries, the driving performance is limited
under certain surface conditions, e.g. gravel, sand or thick carpets.
Please note the following:
Make sure you always adjust the speed of the wheelchair to the ground surface.
Make sure that the batteries of the wheelchair are sufficiently charged.
2.3.7. Dangers when driving in the dark
Driving with a wheelchair on public pedestrian paths is only permitted in accordance with the Road
Traffic Regulat ions (StVO). Please note the following:
Make sure the wheelchair isequipped with working front and rear lights.
Please observe the applicable national or local traffic regulations.
Look for obstacles in or along the route that exceed the maximum height specified in "3.1.6 Driving
characteristics" on page 19 and avoid them.
When using optional lighting equipment, please always follow the instructions in the enclosed
operating instructions.
2.3.8. Risk of tipping over
When negotiating curves, the user's centre of gravity shifts. This can result in an increased risk of
tipping. To avoid this, please note the following:
If the wheelchair performs an unexpected and unusual movement, immediately
release the joystick to stop the wheelchair.
