7.5. Pushing the wheelchair
The wheelchair can be pushed by an accompanying person if necessary.
DANGER
Risk of injury due to uncontrolled rolling away
To use the wheelchair in Push mode, the parking brakes must be
deactivated and the operating module switched off.
If you are not careful, there is a risk of serious injury or death from
uncontrolled rolling. To avoid this, please note the following:
• Only push the wheelchair by the handle on the backrest.
• Always push the wheelchair with both hands.
• Move the wheelchair with increased care.
• If possible, avoid overcoming obstacles when in Push mode.
• Avoid travelling on slopes when pushing the wheelchair, if possible.
• Please note that there is no manual brake when the wheelchair is in Push mode.
WARNING
Damage to the backrest when force is applied
The accompanying person should avoid exerting force on the
backrest of the wheelchair in order to tilt it backwards and thus
overcome obstacles. This can seriously damage the backrest. Go
around obstacles instead.
NOTE
Pushing as a supporting function
Push mode is used to manoeuvre the wheelchair over short distan-
ces. Please note that the manual movement
of the wheelchair requires considerable effort and should only be
used in
exceptional cases.
7.5.1. Deactivating the parking brakes
The motors of the wheelchair are equipped with electromagnetic parking brakes, which prevent
unintentional movement of the equipment when the operating module is deactivated or in Driving
mode.
Before pushing the wheelchair, the brakes must be deactivated.
CAUTION
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces
The housings of the two motors of the wheelchair warm up during prolonged operation. As a
result, there is a risk of burns if touched. To avoid this, please note the following:
When deactivating the parking brakes, avoid touching the motor housings.
