5.3 Switching the server on and off
V CAUTION!
It nothing appears on the screen but flickering stripes after switching on
the server, switch the server off immediately (see chapter “Trouble-
shooting and tips” on page 85).
The On/Off button does not disconnect the server from the mains
voltage. To disconnect from the mains completely, remove the power
plug.
Switching the server on
The power-on indicator (item 2 in figure 24 on page 67) lights up orange
(Standby mode) when the server is connected to the mains.
– Starting up for the first time:
Ê Press the On/Off button (item 1 in figure 24 on page 67).
The power-on indicator lights up green (item 2 in figure 24 on page 67).
Ê Insert ServerStart disc 1 in the CD/DVD drive.
Ê Follow the on-screen instructions (see also section “Configuration with
ServerStart” on page 79 or section “Configuration without ServerStart”
on page 80).
– System already installed:
Ê Press the On/Off button (item 1 in figure 24 on page 67).
The power-on indicator lights up green (item 2 in figure 24 on page 67).
The server is switched on, performs a system test and boots the
operating system.
