Levelling discs
The levelling discs are arranged behind the tine
eld and create a level seedbed for the coulters
in front of the tyre packer.
Levelling discs
The discs can be adjusted to dierent settings.
• Levelling - corn adjustment
The discs transport material into the furrow af-
ter the tine. The working depth is adjusted so
that ridges between the tines will be levelled.
• Ridge forming
The discs transport additional material out of
the furrow behind the tine. This necessary, if
the furrows of the rst row of tines are aected
by the earth movement caused by the second
row of tines (stepping eect). With these discs
the seed furrows can be uniformly dened.
• Furrow closing
The discs are adjusted for at running, so that
the drawn furrows are closed. This is neces-
sary on heavy soils or under moist conditions,
when the packer is unable to close the furros.
Depth setting
The depth setting of the levelling discs is made
after the tines have reached the desired working
depth. The setting is made hydraulically.
If drilling in the furrow between the ridges is de-
sired, the disc can be moved up to top position.
Maintenance
Bearings are oil-lled and therefore maintenance
free.
¾ Check the discs regularly for clearance, leak
tightness of the bearings, wear and free rota-
tion.
Notes on cleaning
Mechanical seals are very sensitive against the
precipitation of water and the subsequent, long
downtimes.
In case of rust the mechanical seals will stick,
are damaged and the bearing will no longer be
leak tight.
¾ Do not clean bearings with high pressure
cleaning equipment.
¾ Spray the bearings with antiseize or corrosion
protection agent.
¾ Before restarting operation turn the discs by
hand and check for free running.
