Hood sensor 638816-001
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 141).
2. Remove the access panel (

3. Remove the optical drive (
Removing the optical drive on page 151).
4. Remove the hard drive (
Hard drive on page 154).
5. Remove the drive cage (
Drive cage on page 164).
6. Remove the optical drive (
Removing the optical drive on page 151).
7. Unplug the hood sensor cable from the white system board connector labeled HSENSE (1) and
remove the cable from the white clip mounted on the inside chassis wall (2).
8. Slide the hood sensor into the chassis to remove it from its slot (3). Disengaging the hood sensor
from the chassis may require use of a screwdriver or similar tool.
To install the hood sensor, reverse the removal procedures.
