ZPWY-MAP- Definitions
NonStop Pathway/iTS Management Programming Manual—426749-002
6-22
ZPWY-MAP-DEF-TCP
If you specify a TCLPROG file name in either an ADD TERM or ADD PROGTERM
command, the TCP first checks that file for the requested program unit before it
checks the file specified in the ADD TCP command.
This field is required to create a valid TCP definition; there is no default value.
When, in response to a SCREEN COBOL CALL statement, the TCP cannot find a
program unit in the TCLPROG file defined for a PROGTERM or a TERM object
and finds it in the TCLPROG file defined for a TCP, the TCP records where the
program unit was located. However, until the TCP is able to locate the program unit
in the PROGTERM TCLPROG or the TERM TCLPROG file, the TCP continues to
look for it in the PROGTERM TCLPROG or TERM TCLPROG file on each call.
This TCP activity can result in high processing overhead.
To reduce the amount of file checking, copy program units from the PROGTERM or
TERM TCLPROG file to the TCP TCLPROG file. Then, either eliminate the
PROGTERM or TERM TCLPROG file or copy all modules from the TCP
TCLPROG file into the PROGTERM or TERM TCLPROG file.
ZTERMBUF
specifies the maximum number of bytes that the TCP allocates from the
TERMPOOL area for its terminal output buffers. (This allocation has no effect on
terminal input operations.)
The number of bytes must be from 256 to the value of the ZTERMPOOL field. If
you enter a value for ZTERMBUF less than 256, the PATHMON process
automatically adjusts the value to 256. If you do not assign a value to this field, the
default is 1500 bytes.
For a TCP that runs the gateway requester program to support Pathway/iTS web
clients, set the value of ZTERMBUF to 32,000 bytes.
If you are writing diagnostic display messages to the terminal, set the value of
ZTERMBUF between 1315 and the value of the ZTERMPOOL field. Diagnostic
display messages are not written to the terminal if the value is less than 1315.
Defining a large value for this field might decrease the number of terminals able to
operate simultaneously, or increase the number of times an I/O operation is
delayed until space for a buffer becomes available. Small values tend to increase
the number of I/O operations necessary to perform certain functions (for example,
the SCREEN COBOL DISPLAY BASE statement). These buffers are held only for
the time required to perform the terminal I/O operation.
If you do not assign a value to this field, the default value is 1500 bytes.
Note. The ZTERMBUF field is not relevant to verbs (for example, the SEND MESSAGE
verb) used with the Intelligent Device Support (IDS) facility.
