The 5149-N64 switch service
Service procedures and a list of replaceable parts are provided for the 5149-N64 switch service.
Replaceable parts
Each replaceable part is assigned one of three designations. Most of the parts for this switch are classied
as Tier 1 CRU. None of the parts for this switch are Tier 2 CRU. For more information, see the following
table:
Replacement designation Description
CRU -Tier 1 Replacing a Tier 1 CRU is a customer responsibility, but dependent
on if they purchased a service upgrade:
• Under the standard warranty
– If an IBM representative installs a Tier 1 CRU at the customer’s
request, the customer is charged for the installation.
– If an IBM representative installs a Tier 1 CRU at IBM Support's
request, the customer is not charged for the installation.
• Under an IBM Storage Expert Care service upgrade: The customer
can request that IBM install the CRU at no additional cost.
CRU -Tier 2 Replacing a Tier 2 CRU can be completed by the customer or can
be installed at the customer’s request by an IBM representative. If a
Tier 2 CRU is replaced by an IBM representative:
• If the product is under warranty:There is no charge for the part or
for the installation if the product.
• If the product is no longer under warranty: The customer is
charged for the part and the installation.
FRU Replacing a FRU must be performed by an IBM service personnel or
an IBM authorized warranty service provider.
The following table lists key replaceable parts for the switch. Because part numbers can change over
time, in a repair situation, verify that the correct CRU or FRU is obtained.
