Chapter 5 Restore The Printer To Operation
DEACTIVATING
HOST SERIAL
Yes Normal message that
displays when you set
Validator Funct. = Enable in
the VALIDATOR menu or
Battery Monitor = Enable in
the BATTERY CONTROL
menu.
No action required.
DIAGNOSTICS
PASSED
Yes The printer passed its
memory and hardware
initialization tests.
No action required.
DIRECT THERMAL
Remove Ribbon
Yes This is the normal reminder
message when you change
the Print Mode setting from
Transfer to Direct in the
QUICK SETUP or MEDIA
CONTROL menu.
1. Remove ribbon from the ribbon
supply and ribbon take-up spindles
in the printer.
2. If ribbon is required for printing,
change the Print Mode back to
Transfer.
DO NOT POWER OFF No This is a standard warning
message that displays while
the printer is downloading
software.
Do not power off the printer until
downloading is complete.
DOWNLOADING TO
VALIDATOR
Yes Normal message when the
printer is downloading
emulation software with a
validator option installed.
NOTE: Many software builds
contain updates to the
Validator option.
No action required.
NOTE: The validator software update
can be verified in the F/W Revision
menu option of the VALIDATOR menu.

E-NET INIT
Yes Ethernet is initializing. No action required.
E-NET READY
Yes Ethernet has finished
initializing.
No action required.
E-NET RESET
Yes Ethernet interface is being
reset.
No action required.
EC SOFTWARE FAIL
See Manual
Yes/No Engine control software
failure.
Power off the printer for 15 seconds,
then power back on. If the problem
persists, contact your authorized
customer service representative.
ENTER to Stop Yes Normal message when a test
print pattern that will run
continuously has been
enabled.
Press the ENTER key to stop printing
the test pattern.
ERROR: DC PROGRAM
NOT VALID
Yes/No The printer cannot find the
data controller program or
the validation checksum is
corrupt.
Power off the printer for 15 seconds,
then power back on. If the problem
persists, contact your authorized
customer service representative.
