Mounting the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router to a Wall or to a Pole
Ensure that the area where the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router operates has adequate
ventilation.
Do not install the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router on the floor, install only on a wall or pole.
5.5.2 Installation Procedures for the X1 Outdoor Satellite
Router
Read the following sections in detail before attempting to install the X1 Outdoor Satellite
Router. Each of the steps below refers to a section outlining installation details.
1. Make sure all mating connectors are prepared correctly for installation. For descriptions
and preparation details for the connectors see Section 4.1, X1 Outdoor Satellite Router
Connectors, page 14, Section 4.2, Power Module Unit Connectors, page 16, and
AppendixC, Preparing the Coax Cable. For connector preparation and installation see
Steps 4, 5, 6 and Step 7 of this procedure list.
2. Mount the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router. See Section 5.6, Mounting the X1 Outdoor
Satellite Router to a Wall or to a Pole, page 24.
3. Mount the Power Module. See Section 5.7, Mounting the External Power Module to a Wall
or Pole, page 27.
4. Connect the Ethernet cable to the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router. See Section 5.8,
Connecting the Ethernet LAN Cable, page 30. Take off and store the protective cap and
lanyard.
5. Connect the TX and RX coax cables to the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router. See Section 5.9,
Preparing and Connecting the Coax RX and TX cables, page 32.
6. Connect the DC cable from the Power Module to the DC power connector on the X1
Outdoor Satellite Router. See Section 5.10.1, Connecting the DC power from the Power
Module to the X1 Router, page 33.
7. Connect the AC power to the Power Module. See Section 5.10.2, Connecting the AC Power
to The Power Module, page 35. Take off and store the protective cap and lanyard.
8. Test the unit, and power it on. See Section 5.11, Powering Up the System, page 37.
9. Install the firmware and configure the satellite router. See Section 5.12, Configuring the
X1 Outdoor Satellite Router, page 39.
5.6 Mounting the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router to a
Wall or to a Pole
The X1 Outdoor Satellite Router connectors and cables for power, TX, RX, and Ethernet may
be attached before or after mounting on a wall or pole.
CAUTION
If the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router and the Power
Module are mounted on the same pole, the X1
Outdoor Satellite Router should be installed
above the Power Module.
