Powering Up the System
5.11.1 Checking Conditions before Powering Up the System
Verify that an Ethernet cable connects the LAN port of the PC/laptop to the LAN port of the
X1 Outdoor Satellite Router.
The X1 Outdoor Satellite Router operates in temperatures above -40˚C (-40˚F), see Section
5.11.3, Powering Up in Cold Temperatures, page 38 for starting in extremely cold
temperatures.
5.11.2 Powering Up the System
After checking the setup as outlined above, power up the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router as
follows:
Connect the iDirect supplied 2 meter DC power cable from the Power Module to the 4-pin
power connector on the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router.
Plug external power supply cord into the AC power source.
There is a weather sealed power LED indicator on the right side of the Ethernet connector.
When power is detected and the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router is powered up, the LED light is
solid red. If no power is detected, the LED is off.
5.11.3 Powering Up in Cold Temperatures
If unit is off for enough time such that the internal modem temperature is registered as less
than -25˚C (-13F) the unit will either follow a 4 minute warm-up algorithm (typically for
internal temps between -35˚C (-31˚F) and -40˚C (-40˚F)) or a 1.5 minute algorithm (typically
for internal temps between -25˚C (-13˚F) and -35˚C (-31˚F)). During the long warm-up or short
warm-up, the Web interface will show the Power LED as GREEN and the other LEDS will be
yellow. The Satellite Rx state on the dashboard shows "Waiting for Demod Lock" during the
warm-up. The Dashboard of the Web Interface will display a temperature reading so this can
be observed during warm-up to ensure the temperature is increasing.
Once warm-up has completed, the "Web Interface" depiction of LEDS will change as the
remote goes through the steps to become acquired in the network. See the Related
Documents, page xv section for guidance to other helpful manuals.
CAUTION
Do not connect or disconnect the Tx or Rx
cable while the X1 Outdoor Satellite Router
is powered; this action may result in damage
to the BUC, LNB, and/or satellite router.
CAUTION
Do not connect or disconnect the Tx or Rx IFL
cable while the satellite router is powered
on; this action may result in damage to the
BUC, LNB, and/or X1 Outdoor Satellite
Router.
