7 Installing an OS via a USB Flash
Drive/CD-ROM (for Whitley/Cedar
Island Platform)
This chapter describes how to install an OS directly via a USB flash drive or CD-
ROM. Operations such as installing a driver and compiling the installation source
are not required during the installation.
This chapter demonstrates with the Windows Server 2019 OS, the SLES 15 SP2 OS
and the VMware ESXi 6.7 Update 3 OS. For information on how to install other
operating systems, refer to the installation documents provided by the
corresponding OS manufacturers.
7.1 Preparing the Installation Image
Obtain the purchased OS CD-ROM file or download the OS image from the OS
official website.
Use a USB flash drive or a blank CD with a minimum capacity of 16 GB as the
installation medium.
Burn the Windows Server 2019 OS image, the SLES 15 SP2 OS image or the VMware
ESXi 7.0 Update 1 OS image into an available installation media using ISO/CD-ROM
burning software, such as Fedora Media Writer and Nero Burning ROM.
7.2 Configuring the RAID Arrays (UEFI Mode)
The configuration screens for Broadcom 9361 and 9460 RAID controller cards are
basically the same. This section demonstrates with the MegaRAID SAS 9361-8i card
to guide you on how to configure a RAID 1 array.
For the RAID array configuration of different RAID controller cards, please refer to
the corresponding Inspur server RAID controller card configuration manuals.
