Chapter 12—Troubleshooting
Bad connection between Main board and printhead?
- Check cables both at the Main board and at the printhead for bad
connection and oxide.
Main board errors
- Check Main board using test points (see Chapter 7.4).
Description:
Printing is faded.
Possible Cause of Problem and Suggested Measures:
Printhead is dirty.
- Clean the printhead with the cleaning card.
- If printing is still faded, increase the density setting using a D com-
mand.
Description:
Prints only partial label.
Possible Cause of Problem and Suggested Measures:
Print frame not completely locked or microswitches out of order.
- Check if the print frame is securely locked on both sides.
- Check microswitches on both sides for malfunction or bad connec-
tion to Main board.
Label caught on printhead.
- Remove and clean.
Description:
Printer keeps printing or feeding when it should not.
Possible Cause of Problem and Suggested Measures:
Label or foreign object caught on label gap sensor (emitter or receiver).
- Open print frame. Remove the label and clean using cleaning card or
isopropyl alcohol.
Bad label gap sensor adjustment or setup.
- Enter the Test Mode as described in Chapter 10.2 to let the printer
autoadjust the sensor. Also check on test label that the
O command is
set correctly.
- Forms longer than 200 mm or forms with black marks require that
the form length is set using a Q command. Check test label.
Label gap sensor out of order.
- Check both emitter and receiver boards for visible damage and bad
connections. Replace if necessary.
