Prerequisites
Itisstronglyrecommendedtolayasteelconduitfromthecableglandabovethe
transducertotheEA440transceiver,andtopullthetransducercablethroughthisconduit.
Thereareseveralreasonsforthis.
•Itwillmakeiteasieratalaterstagetoreplacethetransducer.
•Itwillprotectthecables.
•Noiseandinterferencefromotherelectricalequipmentisgreatlyreduced.
•Theriskofoodingisgreatlyreducedwhenthesteelconduitisterminatedabove
thewaterline.
WithasteelconduittheinstallationwillsatisfytheEuropeanUnionregulationsfor
electromagneticcompatibility(EMC)interference.Withoutasteelconduit,thereisa
riskofreducedEA440performance.
Context
TheWBTusedbytheKongsbergEA440canbesetuptoworkwithmaximumfour-4-
operationalfrequencies.Thismeansthatyoucanusefoursinglefrequency/singlebeam
transducersortwodualfrequencytransducers.
Thetransducerisconnectedtoaterminalblockunderapanelplateontherearofthe
WBT.TheconnectorsareapartoftheWBTdelivery.
