conduitisproperlysupported,strongandwatertight.

Thequalityoftheweldingiscriticaltothesafetyofthevessel.Weldingmustonly
bedonebyacertiedwelder .
4Ifrelevant,allowthemaritimeauthorityand/orclassicationsocietytoinspectand
approvethedesignandtheinstallationofthesteelconduit.
Installingthetransducer(s)
Theinstallationofthetransducer(ortransducers)isakeytaskforsuccessfuluseofthe
EA440Singlebeamhydrographicechosounder.Notonlywillyouneedtopenetrate
thevessel’shull,youmustalsotoselectaphysicallocationformaximumperformance
andminimumacousticandelectricnoise.
Prerequisites
Togetafulloverviewoftheinstallation,youneedallrelevantvesseldrawings.Youalso
needthedrawingsprovidedforeachtransducer.
Context
Necessaryinformationfortheinstallationofeachtransducercanbefoundintheend-user
documentationprovidedwiththetransducer.
Procedure
1Determinethephysicallocationofthetransducer.
Thedecisionmustbebasedon:
•Thevesseldrawings
•Theshapeandpropertiesofthehull
Makesurethatallpossibleconsiderationsaremadetoreducenoise.
2Basedontheshapeofthetransducerhousing,andthemountingdevicesavailable,
determinetheinstallationmethod.
3Design,manufactureandmountthenecessaryfairing,installationblister,keelbox
and/ortankthatisrequiredtomountthetransducer.
4Design,manufactureandmountthesteelconduitforthetransducercable.
5Unpackthetransducerfromitstransportcrate.
6Positionthetransducerunderthemountinglocation.
7Pullthetransducercableupthroughthesteelconduit.
