TYPE (Filter Type)
is is used to select the lter type. e resulting sound will be dierent depending on the selected
lter type. For LPF, HPF, BPF and BRF, the digits at the end of the lter name (6, 12, 24) indicates the
lter characteristics (dB/oct). e larger the value, the more abruptly that the lter will cut o the
sound at the cuto frequency.
LPF 12, LPF 24:
is cuts out the parts of the sound which are higher than the cuto frequen-
cy. Low Pass is the most common type of lter, and is used to make bright timbres sound darker.
HPF12, HPF24:
is cuts out the parts of the sound which are lower than the cuto frequency.
ese lters are eective when the low end is too strong, or when you want a thinner sound.
BPF6, BPF12:
is cuts out all parts of the sound, both highs and lows, except for the region
around the cuto frequency. Because of this, the sound can change dramatically depending on
the cuto setting and the Operators sound settings. With low resonance settings, you can use the
Band Pass lter to create telephone or vintage phonograph sounds. With higher resonance
settings, it can create buzzy or nasal timbres.
BRF6, BRF12:
ese are also called “notch lters” because of the dip in the midrange levels.
Only the parts of the sound at and directly around the cuto frequency are cut o. Try modulat-
ing the cuto with an LFO to create phaser-like eects. is lter type–also called a notch
lter–cuts only the parts of the sound directly around the cuto frequency. Try modulating the
cuto with an LFO to create phaser-like eects.
LPF MS-20, HPF MS-20:
Both of these are 12dB/oct lters that can self-oscillate and replicate
the distinctive tonal character of the Korg MS-20. If the input level is high, raising Resonance will
cause increasing amounts of saturation and overdrive, creating a more aggressive tone.
LPF Poly6:
is is a 24dB/oct lter that can self-oscillate, which replicates the powerful yet
sweet tonal character of the Korg Polysix.
ENABLE
Switches the lter eect on/o.
CUTOFF
Sets the cuto frequency of the lter in Hz. As explained above, the cuto frequency eect will dier
depending on the type you select. e range of most lter types is from 6.489 Hz to 23.68 kHz, but
the range of the MS-20 LPF/HPF and LPF Poly6 is from 12.98 Hz to +21.10 kHz.
