Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoremovethemicroprocessor.
CAUTION:
Theheatsinkandfanassemblymightbeveryhot.Turnofftheserverandwaitthreetove
minutestolettheservercoolbeforeremovingtheservercover.
Toremovethemicroprocessor,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercoveronpage43.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.Removetheheatsinkandfanassembly.See“Removingtheheatsinkandfanassembly”onpage96.
5.Liftthesmallhandleandopentheretainertoaccessthemicroprocessor.Then,carefullyliftthe
microprocessorstraightupandoutofthesocket,andplaceitonastatic-protectivesurface.
