Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoreplacethepowersupplyassembly.
Whenyoureplacethepowersupplyassembly,observethefollowingprecaution.

CAUTION:
Neverremovethecoveronapowersupplyoranypartthathasthefollowinglabelattached.
Hazardousvoltage,current,andenergylevelsarepresentinsideanycomponentthathasthislabel
attached.Therearenoserviceablepartsinsidethesecomponents.Ifyoususpectaproblemwith
oneoftheseparts,contactaservicetechnician.
Toreplacethepowersupplyassembly,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage43.
3.Dependingonyourservermodel,dooneofthefollowing.
•Forservermodelswithhot-swapharddiskdrives,removeallhot-swapharddiskdrivestogain
accesstothehot-swapharddiskdrivebackplanes.See“Removingahot-swapharddiskdrive”on
page57.Then,disconnectallpowersupplyassemblycables(hereafterreferredtoaspowercables)
fromthepowerconnectorsonthebackplanes.
•Forservermodelswithnon-hot-swapharddiskdrives,gotostep4onpage118.
4.Disconnectthepowercablesfromalldrives,PCIcard(s)ifnecessary,andthesystemboard.Then,
releasethepowercablesfromanycableclipsorties.
Note:Thepowercablesarepartofthepowersupplyassembly.Donottrytoremoveordisconnectthe
powercablesfromthepowersupplyassembly.
5.Notetheroutingofthepowercablesandthencarefullypullthepowercablesoutofanyholesinthe
chassis.Putthepowercablestogethersothattheywillnotimpedeanyoperationwhenyouremovethe
powersupplyassemblyfromtheserver.
