StartingtheIntelEmbeddedServerRAIDTechnologyIIprogram
TostarttheIntelEmbeddedServerRAIDTechnologyIIprogram,dothefollowing:
1.DuringthePOST,whenyouseethemessage“Press<Ctrl><E>toenterEmbeddedRAIDII
CongurationUtility”,pressCtrl+EtoenterthemainmenufortheSATARAIDcongurationprogram.
2.FollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoconguretheSATARAID.Whenworkingwiththisprogram,
youmustusethekeyboard.Thekeysusedtoperformvarioustasksaredisplayedatthebottom
ofeachscreen.
ThemainmenuoftheSATARAIDcongurationprogramincludesthefollowingitems:
•TheCongureitemisforconguringtheRAIDvolume,includingcreatinganewvolume,deletinga
volume,addingavolume,andsettingtheRAIDvolumebootsequence.
•TheInitializeitemisforinitializingtheRAIDvolume.
•TheObjectsitemisforselectingAdapter,Logicaldrive,orPhysicalDriveanddoingrelatedsettings.
•TheRebuilditemisforrebuildingtheRAIDvolume.
•TheCheckConsistencyitemisforconsistencycheck.
CreatingaRAIDvolume
ThissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtocreateaRAIDvolumebyusingtheIntelEmbeddedServer
RAIDTechnologyIIprogram.
TherearethreemethodstocreateaRAIDvolume:
•EasyConguration:UsingallharddiskdrivestocreateaRAIDarray.Youcansetthestripesizebyusing
thismethod,however,youcannotselectthecapacityofthearray.
•NewConguration:IfyouusethismethodtocreateaRAIDarray,theexistingRAIDarraywillbedeleted.
YoucanselectboththestripesizeandthearraycapacityforthenewRAIDarray.
•View/AddConguration:ViewingthecurrentRAIDarray,addinganewRAIDarray,orreconguring
thecurrentRAIDarray.
Note:IfyouusetheEasyCongurationtocreateanewRAIDvolume,thecurrentRAIDvolumewillbe
deleted.IfyouwanttocreateanewRAIDvolumewithoutdeletingthecurrentdata,usetheView/Add
Conguration.
TocreateaRAIDvolumebyusingtheEasyCongurationoption,dothefollowing:
1.SelectManagement➙CongurefromthemainmenuandpressEnter.TheCongurationMenu
opens.
2.SelectEasyConguration.
3.Pressthespacekeytoselectphysicaldrives.ThefreephysicaldriveswillbeshownasREADY.After
youselectone,itwillbeshownasONLINA[arraynumber]-[harddiskdrivenumber].Forexample,
ONLINA1-3denotesthenumber3harddiskdriveinarray1.
