Whenmixingmicroprocessorswithdifferentsteppinglevelswithinthesameservermodel,youdonot
havetoinstallthemicroprocessorwithloweststeppinglevelandfeaturesinmicroprocessorsocket1.
Bothmicroprocessorvoltageregulatormodulesareintegratedonthesystemboard.
Readthedocumentationthatcomeswiththemicroprocessortodeterminewhetheryouhavetoupdate
theserverfirmware.Todownloadthelatestlevelofserverfirmwareandothercodeupdatesforyour
server,gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/support.
Themicroprocessorspeedsareautomaticallysetforthisserver;therefore,youdonothavetosetany
microprocessorfrequency-selectionjumpersorswitches.
Ifthethermal-greaseprotectivecover(forexample,aplasticcaportapeliner)isremovedfromtheheat
sink,donottouchthethermalgreaseonthebottomoftheheatsinkorsetdowntheheatsink.Formore
informationaboutapplyingorworkingwiththermalgrease,see“Thermalgrease”onpage281
.
Note:Removingtheheatsinkfromthemicroprocessordestroystheevendistributionofthethermal
greaseandrequiresreplacingthethermalgrease.
Toorderanadditionaloptionalmicroprocessor,contactyoursalesrepresentativeorreseller.
Installationtoolhastwosettingsforinstallingtwodifferentsizesofmicroprocessors.Thesettings
