Toremoveaheat-sinkretentionmodule,completethefollowingsteps:
Step1.Readthesafetyinformationthatbeginson“Safety”onpagevand“Installationguidelines”on
page289.
Step2.Turnofftheserverandperipheraldevicesanddisconnectthepowercordsandallexternalcables.
Step3.Removethetopcover(see“Removingthetopcover”onpage143).
Step4.Removetheairbaffle(see“Removingtheairbaffle”onpage145).
Step5.Removetheheatsink(see“Removingamicroprocessorandheatsink”onpage267).
Attention:Whenyouremoveamicroprocessorandheatsink,besuretokeepeachheatsinkwith
itsmicroprocessorforreinstallation.
Step6.Useascrewdriverandremovethefourscrewsthatsecuretheretentionmoduletothesystem
board;then,lifttheretentionmodulefromthesystemboard.
