13.4 Braking operation with external brake resistor
Larger momentsof inertiaor longergenerator-modeoperationrequireanexternal
brake resistor. It converts mechanical energy into heat.
The brake resistor is connected when the DC-bus voltage exceeds a threshold.
It can thus be avoided that the controller sets pulse inhibit due to the fault
”overvoltage” and the drive coasts to standstill. External brake resistors ensure
braking operation at any time.
13.4.1 8200 vector 0.25 ... 11 kW
The brake transistor integrated into the controller connects the external brake
resistor.
The threshold can be adapted to the mains voltage if you are using 400 V
controllers (8200 vector).
