senseofsmellorsightaswithother
gasestodetectCOasitdiffusesintheair
muchmorerapidlythanothereasily
detectablevapours,(i.e.,visibleand
aromaticvapours).

gasoline,naturalgas,oil,propane,coalor
wood.CommonsourcesofCOare
internalcombustionenginesandopen
ameappliancessuchas:

• Spaceheaters
• Water heaters
• Fireplaces,and
• Charcoalgrills
Thecarbonmonoxidecomponentof
dieselexhaustisextremelylowrelativeto
