2-18.3 POLLUTION

Discharge of Fuel & Oil Prohibited
The Federal Water Pollution Control Act
prohibits the discharge of oil or oily
waste into or upon the navigable waters
of the United States, or the waters of the
contiguous zone, or which may affect
natural resources belonging to,
appertaining to, or under the exclusive
management authority of the United
States, if such discharge causes a lm
or discoloration of the surface of the
water or causes a sludge or emulsion
beneath the surface of the water.
Violators are subject to substantial civil
penalties and/or criminal sanctions
including nes and imprisonment.
As more and more countries become
aware of the potential harm to the
environment caused by uncontrolled
pollution more stringent pollution
control policies are being implemented.
It is the Skipper / Owner of the vessels
responsibility to be aware of the
pollution control requirements of the
Country in which the vessel is operating
and to ensure that all crew & guests are
made aware of these requirements
before the vessel goes to sea.
The Skipper / Owners of the vessel are
also responsible for ensuring that all
crew & guests are aware of federal,
state, and/or local regulations
concerning various forms of pollution,
including :
a) DischargeofOil
b) Solidwastedisposal(MarpolTreaty)
c) Marinesanitation
d) Speed
e) Noise
f) Wake
WARNING
A written waste management plan in
accordance with USCG Title 33 CFR
151.57 must be available on the vessel
at all times. All crew & guests should be
made aware of its contents and the
consequences of non- compliance. A
crew member must be designated to
carry out the plan.

- water separator assembly is designed to
protectprecisionenginecomponentsfrom
dirt, rust, algae, asphaltines, varnishes,
andespeciallywater,whichisprevalentin
engine fuels. They remove contaminants
from fuel using the following three stage
process:
Stage One: Separation
Asfuelentersthelterassembly,itmoves
throughthecentrifugeandspinsofflarge
solidsandwaterdropletswhichfalltothe
bottomofthecollectionbowl.
